Marble Natural Stone Tiles Mosaic

Marble Natural Stone Tiles Mosaic

A unique variety of ceramic tile called a mosaic is separated into sections based on the method. Brocade brick is another term used in the industry to describe mosaic. After the bricks have partially dried, they are pressed into the shape of the mosaic before being baked in a kiln. In order for the mosaic to more clearly display the desired hue, calcium oxide and iron oxide are occasionally added to the bricks as the main colorants.

Product Description of mosaic marble tiles

The difference between mosaic and ceramic tile is mainly in four aspects: concept, material, characteristics, and use.

Mosaic is a special kind of ceramic tile that is subdivided according to the process. Mosaic also has a professional name called brocade brick. The mosaic is formed by pressing the bricks after semi-drying and then baking them in the kiln. Sometimes calcium oxide and iron oxide are added to the bricks as the most colorants so that the mosaic can better show the required color.

The raw materials of ceramic tiles are generally mixed from clay, quartz sand, etc., and then these semi-metal oxides and metal oxides with fire resistance are ground, mixed, and pressed, and the glaze slurry is applied on the surface of the pressed ceramic body. Finally, the process of sintering is required. This kind of porcelain or stone material with acid-base resistance that is finally processed is called ceramic tile.

So conceptually, although mosaic is a special form of ceramic tile, there are still some differences between the two.

The texture of material:

Mosaic can be divided into glass mosaic, ceramic mosaic, and marble mosaic according to the material.

Glass mosaic bathtub paving glass mosaic is made of natural minerals and glass powder, and its thickness is generally 4 to 6 mm; Ceramic mosaics combine the simplicity and massiness of pottery with the delicacy and smoothness of porcelain, combining the advantages of both. Ceramic mosaics are fired at high temperatures and the surface is glazed. The surface of some ceramic mosaics has also been polished to form an irregular shape, with a sense of history eroded by the years. Marble mosaic is made of natural stone after special processing. There is no chemical dye added to the stone.

Ceramic tiles can be divided into ceramic tiles, stoneware tiles, and porcelain tiles according to their materials.

Effect map of ceramic tiles on the wall of the toilet: the surface of the ceramic tiles is glazed, with rich color patterns. The thickness of the ceramic tiles is greater than or equal to 7.5 mm, the average value of the breaking strength is not less than 600 n, and the water absorption rate of the ceramic tiles is greater than 10%. The water absorption of stoneware bricks is between 6% and 10%; Porcelain brick is made of natural stone after crushing, adding chemical adhesive for pressing, and then sintering at high temperature. The ceramic brick has a high sintering temperature and a good porcelain degree. The thickness of the ceramic brick is greater than or equal to 7.5 mm, the average value of the breaking strength is not less than 1300 n, and the water absorption rate of the ceramic brick is less than or equal to 0.5%.

The volume of mosaics is generally small. Mosaics are composed of small square bricks. The most commonly used sizes of these small bricks are 20 * 20MM, 25 * 25MM, and 30 * 30MM. Mosaics seen in our daily life are usually colorful and can show many gradual colors. The volume of ceramic tiles is larger than that of mosaics, and the size is uniform. Ceramic tiles are generally monochromatic, not as rich, and varied as mosaics. Mosaic has high-temperature resistance, radiation resistance, water and acid resistance, and high compressive strength. The anti-skid performance of mosaic is better than that of ceramic tile.

The tiles have the characteristics of acid and alkali resistance, frost and thaw resistance, anti-seismic and crack resistance, water repellency, and air permeability. The tiles are not easy to fall off and are safer than mosaic.

The mosaic is small in size and can be assembled into various decorative patterns. It is suitable for small-area decoration. Because of the good lighting effect of the mosaic, it is often used in places with dark surroundings at night and on indoor walls and floors. Ceramic tiles are suitable for large-area decoration, mainly laid on indoor floors, decorative walls, kitchen and toilet walls, and outdoor decorative exterior walls.

As the toilet is a place with heavy water vapor, the problem of moisture-proof and waterproof must be considered. Based on the above characteristics, it is recommended to use ceramic tiles for large-area paving on the walls of the toilet, because the water absorption rate of the ceramic tiles is relatively low, and they have the characteristics of water repellency and air permeability, and it is not easy to fall off locally over a long period. Then we can use mosaic to decorate a small area, which can make the finishing point and improve the beauty of the toilet.
