White epoxy adhesive is advised for use with glass mosaic (to minimize the impact on the color of glass - see adhesive table). Because the adhesive may shrink and damage some materials' backs, the thickness of the employed glue must not be greater than 3mm.

FAQ about mosaics

What adhesive material should I use when installing decorative mosaics?

To correctly select the bonding material, it is necessary to consider many factors: the base material (gypsum board, composite board, gypsum, wood, etc.), the stability of the base, and the surface to be covered, environmental conditions, construction period, etc. All these factors will affect the choice of bonding materials.

The adhesives recommended here have been verified by us. The verification conditions are that the installed subbase is also a hard sub-base such as a brick wall or concrete wall in our facilities under controllable environmental conditions. If your installation conditions are different from ours, it is recommended that you try before installation. If you have any questions, you can consult us or contact the adhesive supplier directly.

When installing mosaics, we recommend that at least two pieces be taken for trial before the overall installation. At the same time, confirm whether the selected adhesive is suitable for the material to be installed.

In the case of glass mosaic, we recommend using white epoxy adhesive (to minimize the impact on the color of glass - see adhesive table). The thickness of the adhesive used mustn't exceed 3mm, because the shrinkage of the adhesive may cause damage to the back of some materials (see photos).

If it is a stone mosaic, we recommend using C1 or C2 cement adhesive. For such mosaics, do not use epoxy adhesive.

In the case of ceramic mosaic, if the carcass is porous (white or red), we recommend using C1 cement adhesive; If the carcass has no holes (stoneware and porcelain), it is recommended to use class C2 cement adhesive (see adhesive table).

Also, note that class C2 cement adhesive shall be used when installing glass stone mixed mosaic. In the case of glass metal mixed mosaic, it is recommended to use class C2 cement adhesive or epoxy adhesive. If it is a metal stone mixed mosaic, it is better to use class C2 cement adhesive. Such adhesives are also used for mosaics containing resin materials.

Finally, if the mosaic is made of wood, the conditions of the installation site shall also be considered, and the test shall be conducted before the overall installation. We recommend not to use excessive adhesive and follow the instructions of the adhesive manufacturer.

In any case, it must be confirmed that the selected adhesive is suitable for the material to be installed and tested before the overall installation.

Generally speaking, what are the precautions when caulking mosaic tiles?

When caulking mosaics, the caulking must be clean and dry, and the depth must be at least 2mm. A cement spatula can be used to fill all joints with joint sealant. Do not let the excess caulking agent dry, and remove it in time. To do this, use a sponge dipped in water and a pH-neutral detergent. Do not use abrasive products during cleaning. If the caulking agent has dried out, then use a special detergent for cement.

It should also be noted that the color of the materials used will affect the final appearance of the product. Therefore, to ensure that the final desired effect can be obtained, we suggest testing before overall joint filling.

To improve the waterproof degree as much as possible, we recommend using epoxy joint sealant, especially in places with water.
